Important Information Prior to Surgery:

  • Because of the increased risk of surgical and post-surgical complications due to vomiting, Cats & Dogs scheduled for surgery should NOT be fed after 9:00 p.m., the night before surgery. You can offer them water, but absolutely NO FOOD after 9:00 p.m.
  • *** Rabbits and Ferrets are an exception to this rule and should NOT abstain from eating. Rabbits and Ferrets should be dropped off for surgery with enough food for 1 full day in species specific cage with water.
  • * All other exotics – please be sure to ask about food.
  • **Patients who have the following procedures are required to spend the night at the hospital and can be picked up the following morning after 8:00 a.m. or 9:00 a.m. on Saturdays: Feline Spay, Feline Declaw, Canine Spay, Canine & Feline Exploratory Surgery, OR any other surgical procedure entering the abdominal or thoracic cavities.
